- The University Of Southern California has announced that it will no longer use the word “field” because of its “racist” origins. It will use “practicum” instead.
- “This change supports anti-racist social work practice by replacing language that would be considered anti-Black or anti-immigrant in favor of inclusive language,” USC said in a statement posted to Twitter.
- The move was roundly mocked on the platform, with one commenter saying the move was “important stuff. Making the world better one canceled phrase at a time.”
