• California-based Stanford University released a list of “potentially harmful terms” in the spring that has been roundly criticized on social media.
• The list includes terms like “American,” “Prisoner,” and “Karen” as “potentially harmful,” and offers so-called “alternatives.” The initiative’s website encourages visitors to “evaluate the language you use and make changes where you can” and seeks “to educate people about the possible impact of the words we use.”
• “I’m still proud to be an American, and I don’t care that Stanford disapproves of my using the term,” said Stanford School Of Medicine Professor Dr. Jay Bhattacharya on Twitter.
