Politico reporter Eric Geller has been fired after a controversial Tweet calling Pope Benedict XVI a “homophobic pedophile protector and Hitler Youth alumnus.”
“When asked if Geller was fired, Politico’s vice president of marketing and communications Brad Dayspring declined to comment but pointed to a tweet of his own that suggested Geller’s comment violated company policy and could lead to termination,” reported The Daily Mail.
Geller’s LinkedIn profile and social media handles removed all references to Politico and now list him as “cybersecurity journalist in Washington, D.C.”
