Trump Team Calls Battle Over Mar-a-Lago Docs ‘Storage Dispute’

The argument between Trump and DOJ essentially is over whether former president legally materials from his White House at his Florida estate.

  • Trump’s lawyers called legal battle over the classification of the document and where they should be stored a “storage dispute” in a 21-page court filing Monday that centers on whether DOJ can proceed with examining all of the FBI-seized documents, or must waiting until a neutral, third-party observer known as a “special master” gets involved.
  • FBI agents on Aug. 8 seized documents and other materials from Trump’s Florida estate.
  • Trump’s lawyers have in part argued they were in the process of continuing to give National Achieve some of the materials and that Trump has already declassified what federal officials say was at least some seized, classified materials.
  • The lawyers in the court filing also opposed the Justice Department’s two special master candidates.
