Former President Trump says he’ll attend an appeals court hearing Tuesday in Washington, D.C., regarding the scope of his presidential immunity.
Trump, now the front-running 2024 GOP presidential candidate, announced his plan Monday on Truth Social.
He argues the case should be dismissed because a former president cannot face criminal charges for conduct related to his official responsibilities.
“Of course I was entitled, as President of the United States and Commander in Chief, to Immunity,” Trump said in the social media post.
The case is now before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit, following U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan last month rejecting Trump’s immunity argument. Meanwhile, the trial, which is set to start in March.
Trump has returned to the nation’s capitol several times since leaving office and now.
