In August 2021, Kristopher Baca, then 15 years old, was arrested for mowing down a mother and her baby in a hit-and-run incident in Los Angeles. The victims survived.
Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón didn’t prosecute Baca; rather, he was placed in a five-month “diversionary program.” Baca’s record would have been wiped clean at age 18.
Baca didn’t make it to 18. He was gunned down in Palmdale, Calif., while walking home earlier this week.
