Schiff Mum On Cheney-J6 Staffers Rift, Says Final Report Still Incomplete

California Democrat Adam Schiff, a member of the House Jan. 6. committee, on Sunday won't directly answer questions about alleged feud between co-Chairperson GOP Rep. Liz Cheney and staffers over the extent to which the panel's final report should focus on former President Trump.

  • However, Schiff in making the comments Sunday on CNN acknowledged the report is still a work in progress.
  • Time is running out for the Democrat-led special committee because Republicans take control of the chamber in January.
  • Cheney has been an outspoken Trump critic and has worked to weaken his political power.
  • “I certainly hope not,” Schiff said about whether the reported riff was true, then told the CNN “State of the Union” host, ““I don’t think the back and forth is particularly helpful for the committee and I don’t want to engage you in it.”
  • He later said: “We’re going to get to a consensus on the report, we’re very close to that now,” Schiff continued. “We’re close to putting down the pen and going to print.”
