Flailing CNN Pulls The Plug On Tapper’s Primetime Show

At a glance

  • Well, that didn’t take long. Only weeks after taking over the 9 p.m. primetime slot, CNN’s Jake Tapper is being shifted back to his old 4 p.m. time slot, where he’ll resume hosting “The Lead.”
  • New CNN CEO Chris Licht moved Tapper to primetime to try to shake up the evening lineup, which is getting hammered in the ratings by Fox News and MSNBC.
  • Tapper will return to his afternoon show following the midterm elections.
