- A Rikers inmate stabbed a New York City Department of Corrections officer 15 times Monday in what the DOC Commission called an “an unprovoked heinous and callous attack.”
- Dennis Fredricks, the suspect in the stabbing, reportedly was charged in 2022 after he shot and killed his pregnant girlfriend last year.
- The wounded corrections officer is in stable condition at a nearby hospital.
