Representative Chris Smith (R-NJ) was tapped by Speaker Kevin McCarthy to chair the Congressional-Executive Commission on China, a House-Senate bipartisan commission.
Smith has pledged to highlight forced labor, religious crackdowns, and other human rights abuses as part of his role on the commission.
The commission’s work will complement the work done by the new Select Committee on China, chaired by Representative Mike Gallagher (R-WI).
