Biden’s Covid-inspired climate blueprint gets pushback from small businesses

  • The Biden administration’s new plan to counter climate change — released in January by the Environmental Protection Agency and the Energy, Transportation, and Housing departments —  includes a call to reduce “commuting miles” through “an increase in remote work and virtual engagements,” including in education. 
  • The Covid-inspired climate plan is already receiving criticism from small business advocates, who note that more than 100,000 small businesses permanently closed in the first months of the pandemic after dramatic declines in demand.
  • Job Creators Network president Alfredo Ortiz said, “Small businesses struggled to survive the pandemic and we don’t need to return to a similar environment in which in-person consumer demand is severely compromised.”
