• Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling has come under fire for defending biological women’s spaces against radical transgender activists, and star Daniel Radcliffe joined others in the franchise in authoring an open letter rebuking the statements.
• “The reason I felt very, very much as though I needed to say something when I did was because, particularly since finishing ‘Potter,’ I’ve met so many queer and trans kids and young people who had a huge amount of identification with Potter on that,” he told IndieWire.
• Potter actors Emma Watson, Rupert Grint, and Eddie Redmayne also publicly distanced themselves from Rowling’s comments, with Ralph Fiennes and Robbie Coltrane coming to her defense.
