Over 200 Anglers Rescued After Ice Broke Away In Minn. Lake

  • A couple of hundred people were rescued off of a giant chunk of ice in Minnesota thanks to rescuers who kept their cool and came to their aid.
  • The Beltrami County Sheriff’s Office was alerted to the people in need of rescue at 11:34 a.m. on Monday when it received a 911 call from fishers at the Upper Red Lake who were stuck on a chunk of ice that had broken free from the main shore. Upon arriving at the scene, authorities were able to find an area where they could deploy a temporary bridge to evacuate the stranded fishermen, according to a statement from the sheriff’s office.
