Oberlin Finally Ready To Pay $36M In Race-Hoax Case

  • It took nearly six years, but Oberlin College, a famous progressive bastion in Ohio, has agreed to pay $36 million to a family-owned bakery falsely accused of racism in a 2016 shoplifting incident.
  • The three students involved in the shoplifting incident eventually admitted they weren’t racially profiled, but a college staffer made flyers claiming the bakery had a history of racial profiling.
  • In 2019, an Ohio jury sided with the bakery, and last month the state Supreme Court refused to hear the college’s appeal.
