NYC Reaches Deal With Uber, Lyft For Zero Emissions by 2030

New York Mayor Eric Adams said Thursday the city has reached an agreement with ride-sharing giants U to convert their car fleets from gasoline to all-electric by 2030.

  • The Democrat mayor made the announcement at the annual State of the City address in which he said the deal would play a major role in cutting pollution across the city’s five boroughs.
  • “That’s zero emissions for over 100,000 vehicles on our city streets,” Adams said. “We’re pleased that both companies are embracing this shift.”
  • The ride-sharing companies reached the agreement before the Taxi and Limousine Commission releases new rules on converting cabs and for-hire fleets to electric vehicles.
