New York City officials are swamped by the number of migrants currently being bused from Texas and are having difficulty providing a promised intake center and hotel rooms. The department intends to temporarily rent about 5,000 hotel rooms all over the city, including 600 rooms at the luxury ROW NYC hotel, to house the migrants coming to the Big Apple. Officials said they have chosen a finalist to operate a Manhattan intake facility but did not divulge its location or the contractor’s name. Josh Goldfein, a lawyer with the homeless rights advocacy division at Legal Aid, stated, “We were already facing a crisis of homelessness in New York City when the flow of these migrant families started in earnest.” BACK TO HOMEPAGE
