NYC Announces Plan To Put Cameras In Every Subway Car – All 6,400

Start of the project was announced Tuesday by New York Gov. Kathy Hochul, in effort to restore riders faith in system's safety.

  • The Metropolitan Transportation Authority plans to install two cameras in each train car, with project expected to take three years to complete.
  • “You think Big Brother’s watching you on the subways? You’re absolutely right,” the Democrat governor said.
  • New York City’s subway system already has over 10,000 security cameras in its 472 stations.
  • But the platform cameras failed to record video of the person who shot 10 people in April on a subway train in Brooklyn.
