After McCarthy was finally elected, at about midnight Friday, Florida Rep. Kat Cammack shouted, “There are no rules yet, baby!” as she took a video with her phone from the House floor.
- House Republicans – in a fierce standoff last week between conservatives and moderates – approved GOP Rep. Kevin McCarthy as House speaker, but the rules packaged to which he agreed to get enough votes still need to be passed.
