Cmdr. Robert Ramirez III, who became the commanding officer of SEAL Team 1 in November, was found dead in his San Diego County residence Monday.
Foul play is not suspected, according to Naval Special Warfare Command The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department’s is investigating the case.
Ramirez is the second SEAL team commander to die in roughly the past year. Cmdr. Brian Bourgeois, commander of SEAL Team 8, died on Dec. 4, 2021, after falling during a helicopter rope training event in Virginia.
