The tweet sparked disapproval and condemnation, from a social media platform known for repeatedly publishing stories that are false – a situation Musk has been called upon to improve.

Musk on Sunday shared an article on a website that cast doubt about the police report for the attack Friday morning on Pelosi at the family home in San Francisco.

The billionaire’s tweet to his 100 million-plus followers was in a reply to Hillary Clinton, who tweeted a Los Angeles Times story about the suspect’s belief in the QAnon conspiracy theory as she seemed to argue the attack was fueled Republican rhetoric.

“There is a tiny possibility there might be more to this story than meets the eye,” Musk responded in the now-deleted tweet.
