Leftist Colombian Vice President Wants ‘Climate Reparations’ From US
Colombian Vice President Francia Márquez Mina is demanding climate-change reparations from the U.S, despite it sending hundreds of millions of dollars annually in economic and humanitarian aid.
Márquez made the statement in a recent interview with POLITICO.
He said the United State and other Western nations should pursue reparations by way of debt forgiveness also over the issue of colonialism.
“The United States should be the first country to acknowledge that its global politics have helped keep black people around the world and in Africa in a state of subjugation,” Márquez said on whether the U.S. should be involved in “global and climate reparations.”
