• Rich was best known for starring in the ABC-TV series “Eight Is Enough.”
• The actor died Saturday at his Los Angeles-area home, according to a family member.
• Rich’s cause of death has yet to be announced but so far foul play is not expected.
• “I think he was why the show was a big success,” Dick Van Patten said before he died in 2015 about his then-young costar.
