Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis isn’t happy that a Chinese firm has purchased 1,400 acres of land in t he state for. a primate breeding facility.
The land in Levy County was purchased by JOINN Laboratories CA Inc. for about $5.5 million.
JOINN is located in California, but is the subsidiary of Beijing-based. drug developer JOINN Laboratories, which has ties to the Chinese military.
“The governor has been consistently opposed to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) ‘s growing influence in Florida, and this proposed facility is a prime example of the type of activity that we are acting to prohibit,” DeSantis’ office said in an emailed statement.
