- Idaho Republican Sen. Mike Crapo warned that all Americans should brace for their tax records to receive heightened scrutiny now that Democrats have passed legislation to hire 87,000 more IRS workers.
- Crapo tweeted: “Make no mistake: American taxpayers of all income levels should brace for more audits, investigations and tax enforcement under the massive new IRS funding increase. Taxpayers deserve better services, not broken promises.”
- Fox Business reported that Americans who earn less than $75,000 receive the majority of audits. It also projected that the IRS will conduct an additional 1.2 million audits with the added personnel.
