- GOP presidential candidate Chris Christie on Sunday said Sunday primary rival and former President Trump’s “intolerant” language has contributed to widespread intolerance, including the recent spike in antisemitism in the U.S.
- “When you show intolerance towards everyone, which is what he does, you give permission as a leader for others to have their intolerance come out,” Christie said on CNN. “So intolerance towards anyone encourages intolerance towards everyone. And that’s exactly what’s going on here,” he said.
- Christie said his concern extends beyond Trump to include other leaders.
- There has been a spike in antisemitism and Islamophobia since Hamas’ Oct. 7 terror attack on Israel.
