Chess World No. 1 Magnus Carlsen resigned in stunning fashion after making a single move against 19-year-old rival Hans Niemann.
Niemann had defeated Carlsen, 31, on Sept. 4 in a result that sparked bizarre allegations of cheating by Niemann.
Those allegations ran the gamut from suggestions that Niemann had early access to Carlsen’s strategy to more fanciful claims that anal beads had been used to transmit instructions from a co-conspirator.
Niemann vehemently denied cheating: “I have never cheated in an over-the-board game. If they want me to strip fully naked, I will do it.”
