- Sarah Huckabee Sanders, the GOP gubernatorial candidate in Arkansas, said on Sept. 16 that she had undergone surgery to remove her thyroid after a cancer diagnosis.
- Sanders’ surgeon said she was treated for Stage 1 papillary thyroid carcinoma, which he called the most common form of thyroid cancer.
- The doctor added; “While she will need adjuvant treatment with radioactive iodine, as well as continued long-term follow-up, I think it’s fair to say she’s now cancer free, and I don’t anticipate any of this slowing her down.”
