Arizona Bucks Biden, Won’t Tear Down Its Border Wall

Refuses Administration's Call To Tear Down Border Wall

  • Arizona Republican Gov. Doug Ducey has no interest in a Biden Administration proposal to tear down the state’s temporary wall on the southern border. Biden claims the administration will install a new border in 2023.
  • “The suggestion by any federal bureaucracy, that we take action to make the border easier to cross, is completely unacceptable. Gov. Ducey takes the responsibility to protect Arizona very seriously — that’s why we put up these containers,” said Ducey’s communications director, C.J. Karamargin, in a Wednesday evening interview with the Washington Examiner. “What they’re suggesting, that we take them down and make Arizona less safe, is a nonstarter.”
  • Biden canceled all border wall construction after taking office in January 2021. Given the lack of help from the administration, Ducey had workers stack giant shipping containers in the wall’s gaps to keep out migrants.
