App For ‘Gender-Questioning People’ Approved For Ages 4+ On Apple Store

  • A new swipe-right, swipe-left mobile phone app for those who may be questioning their gender identity is listed on the Apple App Store for users as young as four years old.
  • Joshua Tint, a non-binary 19-year-old college student, created the “Discover Me” app during the pandemic. The app is intended to help “gender-questioning people to find their true name and pronouns,” and is listed on the Apple App Store as being suitable for users ages 4 and up.
  • An algorithm will insert different pronouns into pieces of sample text,” Tint said in a news release from Apple. “You can swipe through the sample text — left or right to indicate whether you like it or not — to get a feel for whether you think a certain gender pronoun matches your identity.”
