- Republican Rep. David Valadao finally was declared the winner in California’s 22nd Congressional District – two weeks after polls closed.
- Despite running in a district with a strong Democratic presence, Valadao handily defeated Democrat Rudy Salas, 52% to 48%, according to the AP.
- Valadao was not an outspoken supporter for former President Donald Trump and, in fact, voted to impeach him.
