The Nassau County legislature on Monday approved legislation that will restrict girls’ sports teams from being allowed to use Long Island sports facilities if they have transgender women on their teams.
The move follows an order from Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman that faced a challenge from the New York attorney general, according to NBC News. Blakeman’s order was struck down in May, with a judge determining he didn’t have authority to impose the ban without legislative backing.
